Are you evil? Do you like poetry? Are you curious about Satan–even a little?

If you answered ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to any of those questions—you should know about Gryllus Digital Lit Mag‘s Paradise Lost Reading Group! In the coming months we will read John Milton’s 1667 epic poem (oft-labelled ‘the greatest piece of writing in the English language’) about the fall of mankind, as told from the perspective of Satan. 

After an initial interest digital meeting, we will meet four times in NYC, in Brooklyn and Manhattan (with the option of digitally calling-in), to discuss the poem and  as we read it through at a structured pace. Some (or all) discussions will be joined by guest academic who will call in to offer a perspective on the text, as well as suggested  supplemental materials.

The aim of this project is to make Paradise Lost accessible and exciting for people. I hope that discussions will be structured so that, even if you miss a reading, it will still be worth your while to join in!
